3 Myths About Solo Travel

Thinking about travelling solo?

Whether it’s your first time or you’re already a Healthy Options regular, coming on your own could be the start of your best holiday yet.

There’s something special about a Healthy Options holiday. You arrive, leave the everyday behind, move your body, spend time outdoors, meet new people and hopefully head home feeling refreshed, energised and inspired.

But if you’re considering coming on your own, it’s completely understandable if you have a few questions.

Will I be lonely? Will I know anyone? What if I want some time to myself?

Let’s bust three common myths about travelling solo.

Myth 1: “If I come alone, I’ll be lonely.”

Not on a Healthy Options holiday.

Coming solo doesn’t mean spending your holiday by yourself.

Our activities make it easy to connect with people naturally. Join a morning Yoga or Pilates session, head out on a bike ride, try SUP, explore the water on a snorkel trip or sailing taster, or simply grab a drink and join one of our socials.

There are plenty of opportunities to meet like-minded people, while still having the freedom to enjoy some time to yourself.

The best bit? You can be sociable when you want to be and retreat when you need to.

Myth 2: “I need to know someone before I book.”

You really don’t.

In fact, travelling solo can be one of the easiest ways to meet new people.

When you arrive without your usual holiday crowd, you may find yourself more open to striking up conversations, joining an activity or saying yes to something you might normally skip.

And because everyone is here for a similar reason — to feel good, have fun and enjoy a healthy, active break — you already have something in common.

You might arrive solo, but that doesn’t mean you’ll stay that way.

Myth 3: “A solo holiday means I have to be ‘on’ all the time.”

Absolutely not.

A Healthy Options holiday isn’t about filling every minute with activity.

Maybe one day you’re up early for Yoga, followed by a bike ride and an afternoon on the water.

Another day, you might choose a beach meditation, take a slower morning and simply enjoy having nowhere you need to be.

Your holiday is yours to shape.

Move, explore, socialise, relax — or do absolutely nothing for a while.

That’s one of the beauties of travelling solo: you get to listen to what you need.

So, why not go solo?

If you’ve been on a Healthy Options holiday before, you already know what makes the experience special.

And if you’ve always come with friends, partners or family, perhaps this is the year to try something different.

Come for the classes. Stay for the adventures. Meet new people. Make time for yourself.

You never know — your next Healthy Options holiday could start with you arriving alone and end with a whole new group of friends.
